 Artist Statement

 

 

My paintings are diverse in both subject and chosen mediums and reflect my passion of travel.

 

 

I have always been fascinated with the diversity of culture and environments from both in Australia and around the world. It's not about the physical process of manipulating the paint for me, it's the recording and interpreting the journey along the way.

 

 

Part of my process before I begin to paint is to read up as much as I can about the specific subject I am about to recreate.

 

 

My aim is to portray the lifestyle, a lost culture, a relic or ruin or simply a moment in time. I love the idea that a motif on the ceiling of The Grande Bazaar, Istanbul can be recreated and transformed into an artwork.

 

 

I have discovered  over time not only are my paintings a memory or experience to me, but to the viewer, equally in shared experiences, generating some wonderful conversations.
